Gulf Air pulls out of Kenya

The turbulence in the aviation industry has claimed a second international airline flying into Nairobi this year. Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air, which re-launched flights to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in July 2011, has suspended its flights to Nairobi indefinitely just a month after Virgin Atlantic withdrew from the Kenyan market. “Gulf Air regrets to announce the suspension of its services between Bahrain and Nairobi with effect from 13 November 2012 for commercial reasons. The last flight from Bahrain to Nairobi will be operated on 12 November with return flight into Bahrain on 13 November 2012,” the airline said in a statement. Gulf Air has now asked passengers to contact its global office for any assistance and not to go to the airport directly. Read more story
